TUESDAY IS A POLL DAY
Okee dokee, Banner-- that was a solid idea, but let's be honest, it's no contest between Soccer (a sport for guys who can't throw) and Football.
Instead, in honor of TONIGHT'S ALL-STAR GAME, I present yinz with TODAY'S POLL QUESTION!
"Who is the greatest all-around Major League Baseball Player of all time."
by all-around, i'm talking 5-tools, you've got to include defense, throwing, running, etc., and Major League means Josh Gibson is DQ'd. Perhaps he's the greatest player ever, but we'll never know-- there's no solid enough record of him. It sucks, but them's the breaks.
So fire away, kiddies!
First female to give a coherent thought on the subject earns 20 points on my "date matrix" and gets that much closer to the man of her dreams, namely: me.

One of the pioneers of the tools that make blogging more than merely websites that scroll is Dave Winer of the Berkman Center at Harvard University. One of his most important contributions was the creation of servers which weblogs would "ping" to show that they had updated. This made it possible for blogs to easy "trackback" other blogs that referenced a particular story, a key feature of blogging.
In early 2002, blogs began to spring up to support the invasion of Iraq, these "war bloggers" were primarily from the right end of the spectrum, and included Instapundit and Little Green Footballs.

The roommate makes one HELL of an argument. TRIS SPEAKER? anyone who busts out "Tris Speaker" is a favorite here in the Kingdom. Welcome, Mr. Kupchelitis, we hope to hear from you often.
Hard to argue with Ruth and Mays. My next three might end up just a bit different, though... I'll have to start putting some effort into thinking about it.

i'm gonna have to go with mike schmidt on this one. he was super-fantastic at the hot corner. let's not forget his seven gold gloves and his raw power which led him to slam over 500 career home runs. oh yeah, and 3 MVP awards. kudos to schmitty...shall i go on?
-played for a PA team
-often cited as the "greatest third baseman to ever play the game"
-1980 world champion, same year in which he broke eddie mathews' record for most home runs by a third baseman with 48. 1980 - best season for our guy hands down
-1981, season shortened by a strike, he led the league in total bases, walks, intentional walks, home runs, runs, RBI and slugging percentage - all while hitting .316.
-his 1986 MVP award was prolly due to his .290-37-119 triple crown stats that year
-so many qualities...power, agility at third, throwing arm...but i'll go with his raw power above all
-maybe you could say he struck out a lot, but it didn't seem to matter to much

Holy shit! I thought that Mike Schmidt post was written by a guy. 20 points, Jeanie.
As for Uram-- that post hands down makes you the frontrunner for Post of the Year here in the Kingdom, and further convinces me you should be writing comedy somewhere.
Well played, Youngblood, well played!
and Lara- thanks for posting. now stop your bitching.
