LINK OF THE DAY: "It's True, It's True."
This is a great little article that makes a great point about the Patriots. Dynasty, yes. But they're boring as hell. And that's fine- that's how you win games, so be it. But like the author says, the Steelers, Niners, and Cowboys were all nationally hated or adored, because they all possesed a type of superstar quality/bravado that made them captivating.
I mean, is there anyone out there who's become a hardcore Pats fan over the last five years that doesn't have some sort of tie to the area? I don't see little kids pretending to be Tedy Bruschi or Deion Branch, or even St. Thomas of Brady. And other than people from the cities that have been beaten by them, does anyone really hate them?
And by hate them, I mean HATE them. Like people hated the Jeter-Yankees and Aikman-Cowboys? Does anyone out there really LOVE them, like the Montana-Niners? I'm just wondering.
This isn't sour grapes, I wish the Steelers could play as flawlessly as they do. I wish the Steelers could win three Super Bowls and be called boring. It was just an interesting observation that I found to hold some weight. Which makes me wonder if, though they'll always have that "dynasty" tag, will they be looked back upon with the type of nostalgic longing and appreciation/disdain that the 70s Steelers, 80s Niners, and 90s Cowboys enjoy?
And I'll be honest, though they may become the "forgotten dynasty" twenty years from now, I'll always hate them.

Strong point, Marcus. Like I said, I'm not taking anything away from them, and of course, I don't want to add to them, either. I just thought that the article was an interesting perspective on their place in history.
Odds are that in twenty-five years, I'll remember Brady, Bruschi, Vinatieri, and Dillon. Tops.
Niners: Montana, Rice, Young, Craig, Lott, Norton Junior, Sanders, Clark
Cowboys: Aikman, Emmit, Irvin, the Moose, Lett, Haley, Sanders..
those are just off the top of my head.
and i think all of these 70s Steelers are household names:
Bradshaw, Swann, Lambert, Ham, Greene, Webster, Franco
again- im not trying to prove anything by this. It's just interesting.
(although, this could all change when they win the next two Super Bowls, and have 5 of 6). I'll be able to quote their O-Line, by then.

wooooooooooooooooo!!!! superbowl champs and mardi gras all in one weekend!!!! what a great time to be alive!!!
seriously though folks, if you look at your blogs over the past 5 weeks, you should count how many times you've mentioned the pats and tom brady and how much you hate them both. it adds up. im saying this, because for a "boring" and unmemorable team, you've sure devoted a lot of time to telling us how much you despise them. trust me, with a name like the "patriots," lord knows SOMEONE is going to refer to them as "America's NEW team" and the whole world is going to loathe them. It's just a matter of time. Believe me, just because people are going to call them as a boring team, it still means they're going to refer to them. for a looooooooooooooong time. and like you said, when we win the next two superbowls, i'm pretty sure people are going to seriously hate/remember this team. whether they want to or not.

The reason people on this blog talk about the Patriots and Tom Brady so much and their hate for them is because we all know Massholes from Boston and hate them. It's not so much the Patriots themselves. It's their god damn bandwagon fans. Seriously, did anyone here really know a hardcore Pats fan before 2001? I didn't think so. Sure, Boston loves their Red Sox but the Pats......pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeee!!! As for the Patsies being boring, I don't really give a shit. But for all you so called fans that jumped on the bandwagon when they started winning don't twist your ankles jumping off when it all comes crumbling down.
